Tears in the Dance
Hall (Solar)
Mixed media, paint, plastic, vinyl, rope, and hair (2016).
and I Live Here
It’s My House
Stretcher bars, plastic, glitter, acrylic paints, plastisol, tissue paper, synthetic hair, screen printed Persian rug recreation (2017–2022).
SARA’S NOTE
What is identity to a person whose lived experience is multilayered and liminal? The Persian rug, sourced from my childhood home, is recreated as a symbol of my Iranian heritage. The use of teal, black glitter, and hair reflects the celebratory energy of queer nightlife culture. It welcomes others in, as I dance, meditate, and celebrate the liminality and fluidity of who I am.
A Painting About S.A.D.
36”x48”
Acrylic on canvas (2018).
Becoming, in Harmony
42”x 42”
Spray paint and acrylic on canvas (2026).
SARA’S NOTE
Becoming, in Harmony is a meditation on growth, connection, and resilience. Each circle carries its own color combinations and rhythms, while overlapping to form a shared field, a quiet reminder that we are both unique and deeply connected.
