Operation Doomsday

Spoken word, hip hop, movement, and visual art in dialogue with the iconic repertoire of MF DOOM — staged live by the voices of Louisville.

THE PROJECT

a conversation.

Not a tribute,

Using MF DOOM works and iconography as an organizing concept, Operation Doomsday is a pioneering art collective that blends bilingual poetry, music, and visual arts to explore innovative storytelling, layered soundscapes, and world literatures.

The project builds on music interpolations and original works by Kentuckiana lyricists and poets, offering a panoramic approach to DOOM’s tropes while using various mediums, such as live painting and burlesque, to spark a conversation about the place of artists and performers in today’s society of spectacle.

Evolving into a hip-hop-oriented jazz ensemble, the collective remains active in the Louisville art scene, performing along Kuda Baby and Oddet Sol as their official band.
